Retired Shirts The ultimate accolade bestowed upon past players by the team is to have their shirt retired. Once in retirement no future player can use that number. This honour is reserved for extreme circumstances and should not be taken lightly. Jon 'Macca' McMillan (LB: No.47) 1998-01 Macca, an AllStar with GB potential was sadly taken from us in his fourth year of Sharks Football. He was always quietly effective producing bone crunching performances from tackling that ALWAYS stopped traffic. But it was his behavior off the pitch that truly distinguished him, he was quite simply the most outstanding human being - loyal, hardworking, and caring. We all miss you mate. R.I.P Quote: 'You Muppet!'. Tom Bell (QB: No.10) 1984-87 Founder of the Sharks, first QB and coach, Tom was the heart and soul of the Sharks - without him there would be no green and white. Despite his stature (or lack of it) Tom was a tenacious player whom nobody liked taking on head-to-head, and led the Sharks to their early dominance of the league. Marcus Thornton (LB: No.57) 1984-87 For years Marcus was an absolute rock in the middle, showing the pedigree which saw him star in several senior league teams as well as the national side. Marcus continued to excel off the pitch, leading the Sharks to CB glory as coach, and is to this day the BCAFL's winningest coach. Gentlemen, you are w**k! Andy Westcott (WR/QB: No.88) 1986-90 Despite being unquestionably the Sharks/Whales' best national QB, Andy is one of those players whom would do well wherever you put him on the pitch. As well as his cannon arm, Andy possesses great speed, good vision and a love for hitting. A one-off. Martin 'Diesel' Gardham (LB: No.20) Diesel's reputation as the leagues one of the best Linebackers in the past 10 years is undisputed and widely recognised. Coming from a talented generation of American Footballers in Britain, Martin impressed with his monster hitting and inspirational leadership. His 13 year BCAFL and BSL career has seen him grace many a stadium across the country, and he has been a regular in the AllStar and GB Bulldogs teams. 'Come on, run at me!' All Sharks Coaches (#0.) In recognition of all the hard work and effort that goes into enabling the team to play to their full potential the number zero shirt is retired for all shark's coaches, past, present and future.
